False Start

I was going to cut into the Flea Market Fancy that arrived Friday, but sadly spent the night with an allergic reaction to fabric softener. After years of using non-perfume laden products, I thought the kids were old enough not to be sensitive. Of course I was instead. I am playing Russian roulette with each piece of clothing I am wearing and was able to remember most of what I put into the dryer last weekend and rewash it. I took two Benydral and I was out. Yeah Friday night!

Today I did some math and worked on this. I should have a cute bag to share by Monday.

I think the FMF is just going to have to intimidate me for a while longer. That's OK. It is just pretty to look at.

  1. We can't have scented laundry stuff, either...I feel your pain. Hope you're up and at 'em soon!

  2. So sorry to hear that! I have three little girls who are allergic to every brand laundry detergent except the Target brand baby detergent. My six year old still gets red bumps everywhere if I use All Free and Clear. Guess it's not that "free."

Glad you are feeling better! I bought some FMF and will be eager to see what you make with it. I don't have a plan. I thought I'd get some before it's all gone since I wasn't into fabric when it first was popular.

  3. Oh man, that happened to me not too long ago. Totally freaked me out, I didn't sleep at all for a week because I thought it was the sheets. I re-washed everything and was so scared to change clothes. I hope you will be able to have an easier time of it. I think I had a brain cloud moment and put the detergent in twice...ugh!

I'm also looking forward to what you come up with for your FMF. I too bought some with no plan but I love it more in person! I'm trying to figure out what to do with it so I'm looking forward to what you do!

  5. Oh dear, that allergic reaction sounds pretty bad.
One day you'll get the courage to cut the FMF, can't wait to see the cute bag.

  6. Hubby and sons had res spots on their skin, years ago. That is when I stopped using scented laundry soap, and changed the dryer sheets when the unscented ones came out. I don't even use perfumes anymore. They are just 'too strong' for me. Sorry.

  7. I feel your pain with the allergy. I've discovered that clothes washed in scented laundry detergent have the fragrance permanently fused in the fibers. You can't get it out! I made memorial quilts from clothing for the sons of a friend and I couldn't do anything to get the scent out of the clothes. I didn't think I was going to survive those quilts.

  8. oh, allergies are NO fun! I have developed many allergies over the years, thankfully fabric softener is not one of them, but deodorant, makeup, and cherries is among the list :*(

  9. oh, no! Don't you just love supreme irony? Can totally relate, though. I get hit by the sizing on fabric, so I have to prewash and iron EVERYTHING, even charm packs. Bad news is I can never work in a fabric store. Wait - maybe that's good news! ;D

And poor Karin! And I thought I had it bad with every scent there is - deoderant, even!?
