The One Ring

That title should mess with someone's search engine...evil laugh...

Is it me? I am just not loving the order of these Katie Jump Rope fabrics and I can't figure out why? I might be too close to the project and just need a fresh look at it from some sewing friends. Is there something just not right? I have eight full rings of these. I didn't follow Denyse's pattern. I can always reshuffle the colors on the other eight. Be brutal and honest. Just tell me to shut up and sew and if you want to.

Shut Up And Sew. That would make a great blog name.

  1. I like the block, and you will probably like it better when the other blocks come together :)

  2. So beautiful! Looks great! There's a couple spots were you have two same colors next to eachother (i.e. two reds, two greens), is that maybe it?

Oh man, Shut Up and Sew. That IS a great blog name. Wish I would have thought of that!!

  3. Yup, I bet it's the two reds on the left. Red really draws the eye. Easily fixed by just replacing one of 'em! It's looking fabulous, btw and I certainly wouldn't obsess over that, but if it's bugging you, fix it now before you piece in the background!!!

  4. I agree with Krista - it's those two reds. But if it were me, I would totally leave them. Having said that, I am verrrrry lazy, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I love Shut Up and Sew!!

  5. Those two reds did not get my attention till your first commenters mentioned them ... but I was drawn to the pieces with a white background. The ones with the big grey dots on them? Those I might would suggest to change (not enough contrast with the background). BUT - shut up and sew is a wonderful hint, too - and maybe that's exactly what you should do?

  6. It looks great to me but I have to admit that I would have to change the two reds. Keep going, it's gonna be great.

  7. Yep. I love it. I do see the two reds and the two greens, but if you can shuffle the others (rings) a bit...it will truly give it a scrappy look. And I do think this quilt completely changes once you have all the blocks together. I love it!!!

  8. I think the scrappy, organic look on a geometric ring is what's up! But, when you have more than one, it will make all the difference in the world.

Did that make sense? To make a short story long...I like it and think you will too when you have more finished.

  9. I'd say you might shuffle the others a bit, to spread the colors out a bit more--from a distance, the red and white floral next to the orange basketweave sort of blend together. Then again, just turning each block to keep your eye moving may do the trick.
